Everything we bake is made fresh and sent out on a tracked next-day service, because donuts don't improve with age. Here's exactly how our delivery works.
We deliver across the United Kingdom — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — and the Republic of Ireland.
We don't currently ship anywhere else. If you'd like donuts sent outside the UK and Ireland, email us at customercare@blackboxdonuts.co.uk and we'll tell you honestly whether we can make it work.
Standard delivery is £4.99 per order across the UK and Ireland, whatever size your box.
Wholesale and bulk orders are charged at a separate rate shown at checkout, which reflects the multi-box carriage involved. Corporate and event orders are quoted individually.
We bake to order, so you choose your delivery date at checkout and we bake and dispatch to hit it.
We ship Monday to Friday, by Royal Mail Tracked 24. We don't dispatch on Saturdays, Sundays or bank holidays, so those dates won't be offered at checkout.
You'll receive an email with tracking details as soon as your parcel leaves us.
Orders are usually delivered between 7am and 5pm, and are 97% likely to arrive on the date you selected. On the odd occasion a parcel arrives the day after, which can be any day from Monday to Sunday.
For date-sensitive occasions such as birthdays and other gifting occasions, we recommend selecting a delivery date one day earlier than you need them, to cover the rare occasion when Royal Mail delays delivery by a day.
Once a parcel is with Royal Mail, its arrival is in their hands, so a selected delivery date is a target rather than a guarantee.
Some destinations sit outside Royal Mail's next-day network and typically take an extra working day. These generally include:
If you're in one of these areas, please allow an extra working day and build that into the delivery date you choose.
You can send donuts straight to someone else — just enter their address as the delivery address at checkout.
We use Giftnote (giftnote.com) so you can add a personalised message to your gift. Your recipient is sent your message digitally, which also means they know a box of fresh donuts is on its way and can make sure someone's there to take it in.
To use it, add your message at checkout along with the recipient's contact details. Please make sure you have their permission to pass those details on to us.
Every box carries a best before date printed on it. Our donuts are made fresh and sent unfrozen, and that date is set on the basis that your box arrives on the delivery date you selected.
If Royal Mail delivers late, your box could arrive on or past its best before date. If that happens, please don't eat them — contact us at customercare@blackboxdonuts.co.uk and we'll put it right. See our Refund Policy for how we resolve it.
Our donuts are packed in custom-fitted boxes designed to hold each donut in place and protect the toppings in transit. Keep them in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, and eat them by the best before date on the box. Don't refrigerate them — the fridge dries them out.
Chocolate-dipped and cream-filled products are sensitive to heat. In warm weather, toppings can soften and marks can appear on the glaze. This is normal, doesn't affect how they taste, and isn't something we can refund on its own — but if your donuts arrive genuinely melted or spoiled, contact us within 48 hours and we'll sort it out under our Refund Policy.
Royal Mail Tracked 24 doesn't require a signature. If nobody's in, the postie may leave your parcel in a safe place, with a neighbour, or take it to your local delivery office and leave a card.
You can add a safe-place instruction at checkout or through Royal Mail's tracking. If you ask for your parcel to be left somewhere, it's left at your own risk — we can't be responsible for a parcel that goes missing or spoils after it has been delivered as instructed.
Because our products are fresh, we'd strongly recommend having your order delivered somewhere it can be brought inside the same day — a workplace, or a neighbour who's in. A box sitting in a porch for three days won't be at its best.
If a parcel is returned to us undelivered because it wasn't collected from the delivery office in time, we're not able to resend or refund it, as the contents will no longer be fresh.
Please double-check your delivery address at checkout, including the postcode, flat or unit number, and business name where relevant. Once an order is dispatched we can't redirect it.
If an order can't be delivered because the address supplied was wrong or incomplete, we're not able to refund it. If you spot a mistake, email customercare@blackboxdonuts.co.uk straight away — if we haven't dispatched yet, we'll fix it.
For deliveries to flats, shared buildings, offices with a post room, hospitals, universities or gated developments, please add clear access instructions. Parcels handed to a reception, concierge or post room are treated as delivered.
Occasionally things happen that neither we nor Royal Mail can control — severe weather, industrial action, network disruption, or events at national scale. Where this affects your order we'll tell you as soon as we know and work with you to find the best outcome, whether that's a new delivery date or a refund.
Wholesale, corporate and event orders are arranged individually. Lead times are longer than for retail boxes — please get in touch well ahead of your date. We'll confirm dispatch and delivery arrangements in writing when we take your order.
